SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Iran-based Kharg Petrochemical is currently running its 660,000 tonne/year natural gas-based methanol plant at 91% capacity, a company source said on Thursday.

The plant is not able to run at full capacity because of lack of feedstock natural gas, the source said.

Kharg Petrochemical does not have plans to shut the plant for maintenance this year, the source said.

The company can sell methanol in both free-on-board (FOB) and cost-and-freight (CFR) basis. Freight rates from Iran to China are around $100-110/tonne (€81-89/tonne), according to market sources.

Other methanol producers in the Middle East include SABIC and National Petrochemical Company.
