SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s SP Chemical plans to shut its 150,000 dry metric tonne (dmt)/year caustic soda plant at Taixing in Jiangsu province on 20 August for eight days of maintenance, a company source said on Friday.

The plant is currently running at a reduced capacity of 70% as the company aims to cut production of chlorine – a co-product of caustic soda – amid a bearish market, the source said.

SP Chemical has a total caustic soda capacity of 750,000 dmt/year in Taixing.
