China’s Sinochem Jilin Changshan expanding urea, ammonia units

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinochem Jilin Changshan Chemical has started construction work to expand capacity of its ammonia and urea units at Songyuan city in Jilin province, according to a government website on Friday.

The ground-breaking ceremony was held on 15 August, according to Songyuan government’s website.

Sinochem Jilin Changshan Chemical received approval from its parent company, Sinochem Group, on 14 June to double its ammonia and urea capacities to 360,000 tonnes/year and 600,000 tonnes/year respectively, a company source said.

The company will invest a total of yuan (CNY) 1.2bn ($188m) and the construction will take two years, said the source.

After the completion of the project, the company is also expected to double its sales revenue to CNY 1.4bn from 710m in 2011, the source added.
