Run rates at major China refineries fall to 80.4%

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--?xml:namespace>China’s major refineries recorded an average operating rate of 80.4% on 16 August, down by about three percentage points from two weeks ago, according to ICIS' survey of industry players on Friday.
The data is compiled from 35 refineries with a combined capacity of 7.26m bbl/day, which accounts for 72% of the total capacity of major refineries in China.
Current run rates were the second lowest recorded this year, after a 79.1% rate in mid-April, according to ICIS data.
Sinopec, the biggest refiner in China, shut its 260,000 bbl/day Tianjin refinery for maintenance on 15 August, while some units of its 270,000 bbl/day Maoming refinery were also brought off line for turnaround several days ago.By: Amy Yu
