LONDON (ICIS)--Novapex has restarted its 40,000 tonne/year isopropanol (IPA) plant in Roussillon, France, following planned maintenance, a company source said on Friday.

The plant was closed from 1 to 15 August.

“It was a very good turnaround and we are operating at 100%” the source added.

Novapex produces IPA using acetone, and built up volumes of the feedstock in July so that IPA supply was not affected during the shutdown.

IPA demand is at low levels to reflect the summer downstream plant shutdowns in southern Europe during August. It is expected to pick up towards the end of the month as participants return to the market.
