SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japans’s JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp shut down the sole crude distillation unit (CDU) at its 136,000 bbl/day Oita refinery on Thursday afternoon following a liquid petroleum gas (LPG) leakage from the unit, a company source said on Friday.

Restart date for the plant has yet to be set, the source said.

The company expects to be able to cover customer requirements from stocks at Oita, or from its other refineries within Japan.

Secondary units at the Oita refinery are still operational, the source added, but was unable to say whether run rates at the units had been reduced.
