Japan’s July PVC production up 46% from June on higher exports

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) rose by 46% month on month to 112,126 tonnes in July, reflecting higher exports, official data from the Vinyl Environmental Council (VEC) showed on Friday.

This was a 9.1% decrease from the same period a year earlier, however, according to the association.

The country’s domestic shipments of PVC fell by 4.9% to 82,363 tonnes in July from the previous month, but rose by 2.5%% year on year, based on the data.

Exports of PVC increased by 19% month on month to 20,454 tonnes in July, but decreased by 51% from July 2011, the statistics showed.
