HOUSTON (ICIS)--Venezuela’s Coramer, the distribution arm of Pequiven, increased sales of plastic resins by 13% in the first seven months of this year compared with the same period in 2011, according to data received by ICIS on Monday.
The data was presented by Andres Contreras, general manager of Coramer, in its latest presentation to the local industry.
Sales of plastics increased to 362,000 tonnes in January through July from 319,000 tonnes in the first seven months of last year.
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sales increased by 27% to 74,000 tonnes from 58,000 tonnes during the January-July period of 2011.
Sales of polypropylene (PP) increased by 26% to 78,000 tonnes from 62,000 tonnes.
Polyethylene (PE) sales increased by only 6% to 210,000 tonnes from 198,000 tonnes in the seven-month period 2011.
