China’s CNCEC-FCC to install gasification unit for methanol plant

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Fourth Construction Corporation of China National Chemical Engineering Co (CNCEC-FCC) will install gasification equipment for a 600,000 tonne/year methanol unit at Erdos city in Inner Mongolia, a company source said in on Friday.

The company has assigned the contract to Yanzhou Erdos Neng Hua Co Ltd to install the equipment at a cost of yuan (CNY) 148m ($23m), the source added.

The installation will take 260 days and the unit will be used to convert coal to gas such as carbon monoxide to provide supply to its upcoming methanol unit, the source said.

The 600,000 tonne/year methanol plant is the first stage of Yanzhou Erdos Neng Hua’s 1.8m tonne/year coal-to-olefin (CTO) project, according to the source.

The timeline for the completion of the methanol plant and CTO project was not immediately known.

CNCEC-FCC is a subsidiary of China National Chemical Engineering Group Corporation, whose core business is to deal with engineering construction and related services in the fields of chemical, petrochemical, power, infrastructure and environmental protection.

Yanzhou Erdos Neng Hua Co Ltd is a subsidiary of Yanzhou Coal Mining Company Limited, which is a key coal producer in east China.
