LONDON (ICIS)--INEOS will flare at its petrochemicals site in Cologne, Germany, over the weekend as it brings down a major facility for three weeks of maintenance work, the Switzerland-headquartered chemicals major said on Friday.

INEOS said that flaring at the site would begin on Saturday 25 August, lasting for about 24 hours. The facility is expected to be restarted on 15 September. The company did not disclose further details.

Flaring is typically associated with the shut-down and start-up of crackers.

According to ICIS plants & projects, INEOS has two crackers at the Cologne site, with capacities of 450,000 tonnes/year and 660,000 tonnes/year for ethylene, respectively.
