LONDON (ICIS)--INEOS said on Friday that planned maintenance work at its petrochemicals site in Cologne, Germany, over the weekend is not linked to the company’s crackers there.

INEOS spokesman Richard Longdon would not disclose to ICIS which plant would be affected. However, the crackers were not affected, he said.

In a statement on its German website, INEOS said earlier on Friday that INEOS will flare at the Cologne site over the weekend for three weeks of maintenance work.

The flaring at the site would begin on Saturday, 25 August, lasting for about 24 hours, the company said.

Longdon said that there would be routine maintenance at the site, but it would not be a major shutdown.

“It is normal procedure for us to notify the local community when there is any elevated noise levels from the site,” he said.

According to ICIS plants & projects, INEOS has two crackers at the Cologne site, with capacities of 450,000 tonnes/year and 660,000 tonnes/year for ethylene, respectively.
