SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Shandong Liaherd Chemical Industry is running its 30,000 tonne/tonne melamine unit at Xintai city in Shandong province at 100% capacity after it was restarted last week after a prolonged shutdown, a company source said on Monday.

The unit was shut down on 20 November last year because of an explosion which occurred when workers were repairing a condenser at the unit, according to the source.

The explosion at the unit killed 14 workers and injured five others, according to an earlier report from ICIS.

The company is running another 30,000 tonne/year melamine unit at Yiyuan in Shandong province at full rate, the source added.
