HOUSTON (ICIS)--US ethylene production in July totalled 4.649bn lb (2.11m tonnes), rising by 1.7% from 4.573bn lb produced in the same month in 2011, Jacobs Consultancy said on Monday.
Ethylene output in July rose 12% by volume compared with 4.151bn lb in June, while climbing by 8.4% if production is measured on a daily rate, the group said in its monthly Hodson report.
The increase in the daily rate figure was in line with higher operating rates last month.
US crackers operated at 94.7% of capacity in July, rising from 87.4% in June as a result of minimal downtime during the month, the report said.
