HOUSTON (ICIS)--US propylene production in July totalled 952m lb (431,820 tonnes), a 4.8% drop from 1.00bn lb produced in the same month in 2011, Jacobs Consultancy said on Monday.

However, production in July rose 12.2% by volume compared with 848m lb in June, while climbing by 8.6% if output is measured on a daily rate, the group said in its monthly Hodson report.

The increase in the daily rate was in line with higher operating rates last month.

US crackers operated at 94.7% of capacity in July, rising from 87.4% in June as a result of minimal downtime during the month, the report said.
