HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butadiene (BD) production in July totalled 265m lb (120,202 tonnes), a 5.7% drop from 281m lb produced in the same month in 2011, consulting firm Jacobs Consultancy said on Monday.
Despite the year-on-year drop, BD production in July rose 14.3% by volume compared with 232m lb in June, while climbing by 10.6% if output is measured on a daily rate, the group said in its monthly Hodson report.
The increase from June resulted from a heavier feedslate last month, particularly naphtha, and higher operating rates at US crackers, the consulting firm said.
US crackers operated at 94.7% of capacity in July, up from 87.4% in June, the report showed.
