China’s Jiangsu Sopo restarts acetic acid plant, ramps up ops

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu Sopo Chemical was ramping up operation at its 1.2m tonne/year acetic acid plant at Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province after restarting it on 26 August following an unexpected shutdown on 22 August, a company source said on Tuesday.

The producer was running the plant about 70% of capacity before the shutdown.

Major acetic acid producers in China include Celanese, BP YPC Acetyls Co (Byaco), Jiangsu Sopo, Shanghai Wujing Chemical, and Yankuang Cathy.
