HOUSTON (ICIS)--Jacobs has won a contract to work on a soda ash plant in India’s Gujarat state, the US petrochemicals engineering firm said on Tuesday.

Jacobs said that under the contract with Indian detergents producer RSPL it will provide engineering, project management, procurement and construction services for the plant.

The facility is expected to have a capacity of about 500,000 tonnes/year of light soda ash – about half of which can be converted in the production of dense soda ash.

Jacobs did not disclose financial details or timelines for construction and completion of the plant. However, it said that the duration of its contract with RSPL was 36 months.
