HOUSTON (ICIS)--US refiner Valero’s Memphis refinery in Tennessee is operating at reduced rates following the shut down of a pipeline that supplies the refinery, a company spokesman said on Tuesday.
The 180,000 bbl/day Memphis refinery is supplied primarily by Shell’s Capline pipeline, which has been temporarily shut down in preparation for Hurricane Isaac. The pipeline transports crude oil from the US Gulf to the midwest.
According to company spokesman Bill Day, depending on the length of the pipeline shutdown, the Memphis refinery will operate at reduced rates but will remain in operation.Follow Anna on Twitter
