SINGAPORE (ICIS)-- Taiwan’s Formosa Chemical and Fibre Corp (FCFC) has delayed the restart of its No 2 aromatics unit in Mailiao to the first half of September, a source familiar with the matter said on Thursday.
The delay is a result of planned maintenance taking longer than expected.
“The No 2 unit will restart [in] the first half of September instead of late August, which was initially expected,” the source said.
The unit, which has a nameplate capacity of 580,000 tonnes/year of paraxylene (PX), was shut on 20 June following a power outage, and remained shut for maintenance.
