SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shandong Xinyonghui Chemical is operating its 15,000 tonne/year methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) unit at Gaomi in Shandong at full capacity after restarting it on 28 August, a company source said on Thursday.

The unit was shut for maintenance in early August, according to the source.

The company currently produces 50 tonnes/day of MTBE with purity at above 97% and sulphur content at 140-220ppm, easing up the tight supply in the Shandong market.

The company’s other 15,000 tonne/year MTBE unit at the same site remains off line because of a lack of feedstock C4 gas, the source added.

Shandong Xinyonghui Chemical engages largely in the production and sales of MTBE and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
