HOUTSON (ICIS)--Enterprise Products Partners will begin an open commitment period to gauge additional shipper demand for capacity on its planned Appalachia-to-Texas ethane pipeline, the company said on Thursday.

Scheduled to begin service in 2014, the ATEX Express pipeline would enable increased delivery of ethane from the Marcellus and Utica Shale areas to the Mont Belvieu storage hub in Texas.

“While the long-term commitments we already have are more than sufficient to proceed with the development of ATEX Express pipeline, we continue to receive steady interest from other producers seeking long-term transportation capacity,” said AJ “Jim” Teague, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Enterprise’s general partner.

The open commitment period will close on Thursday 27 September.
