SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corp (FPCC) has raised the operating rates at its 700,000 tonne/year No 1 cracker at Mailiao to 95% capacity from 85% previously, company sources said on Friday.

Its 1.03m tonne/year No 2 cracker in Mailiao is currently off line undergoing  maintenance that will last until next month. FPCC’s 1.2m tonne/year No 3 cracker at the same site is currently running at full capacity.

There are no plans to shut the No 3 cracker for a turnaround in the near future.

The Taiwanese government ordered the safety checks at the Mailiao production facilities following a string of fires at the site last year.
