SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Nanjing Bluestar New Chemical Materials Co is planning to shut its 55,000 tonne/year butanediol (BDO) unit on 5 September for 15 days of regular maintenance, a company source said on Friday.

The shutdown will have little impact on the spot market because of weak demand, the source said.

The company’s other 55,000 tonne/year BDO unit at the site has remained shut since April because of poor market sentiment, the source said.

Its upstream 50,000 tonne/year maleic anhydride (MA) unit has also halted operations since April, with no restart date set, the source said.
