LONDON (ICIS)--Pipelife will start producing 2.5-diameter high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes at a plant in Norway this year, the Austria-based plastic pipe manufacturer said on Friday.

Pipelife said it will be the world’s only manufacturer capable of delivering long-length, 2.5m diameter HDPE pressure pipes. Production will begin in December.

The pipes, produced at a recently-installed extrusion line at Pipelife’s plant in Stathelle, Norway, will be supplied to a power project in Ghana, where they will be used in offshore intakes and outfalls of cooling water. Deliveries are scheduled for June and August 2013.

Pipelife added that it is seeing high market potential for its long-length large-diameter PE pipes.
