SINGAPORE (ICIS)--?xml:namespace>Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) is operating its recently restarted caustic soda, ethylene dichloride (EDC) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plants in Mailiao at around 70% of capacity, a company source said on Tuesday.
FPC restarted its 1.18m tonne/year EDC and 1.33m dry metric tonne (dmt)/year caustic soda facilities in Mailiao on 3 September after two weeks of maintenance from 16 August, the source said.
Its 500,000 tonne/year PVC unit in Mailiao resumed operation on 1 September, after a week-long shutdown from 27 August on shortage of feedstock vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), the source said.
Meanwhile, the company’s 800,000 tonne/year VCM plant at the same site that was shut on 16 August is still undergoing turnaround, and is scheduled to restart in mid-September, according to the source.By: Feliana Widjaja+65 6780 4327
