China’s Qiyi Bio-fuel Technology building biodiesel plant

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Anhui-based Qiyi Bio-fuel Technology company has started building a 80,000 tonne/year biodiesel plant at Shucheng in Anhui in late August, a local governmental official said on Wednesday.

The yuan (CNY) 350m ($55m) plant will also produce 6,400 tonnes of glycerol and 1,333 tonnes of fuel oil byproducts annually, according to the official from Shucheng Merchants Bureau.

The start up time of the plant has not been decided yet.

The company also plans to invest another CNY450m to raise the biodiesel capacity 230,000 tonne/year in future construction, he added.

Company officials could not be immediately reached for comments.
