SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu Xinmin Textile Science & Technology has started test runs at its 200,000 tonne/year polyester line at Wujiang in Jiangsu province in early September, a company source said on Thursday.

The polyester line is already producing off-spec intermediate PET chips, with the on-spec material expected to be produced two to three days later, the source said.

The major product from this line is fully drawn yarn (FDY) and it will be produced a week later, the source said.

The impact on the domestic spot market is minimal because the plant capacity is small.

Xinmin Textile has a separate 200,000 tonne/year polyester line at the same site in Jiangsu that is running at 95% capacity, according to the source.
