HOUSTON (ICIS)--INEOS Nitriles’ Green Lake facility near Port Lavaca, Texas, may restart later this week after it was hit by lightning, knocking out its power, sources confirmed on Thursday.

The outage has caused the plant to be down since Sunday morning.

An INEOS source said the outage may cause a short-term shortage in the market.

The plant has a capacity of 545,000 tonnes/year of acrylonitrile (ACN), according to INEOS Nitriles.

North American ACN producers include Ascend Performance Materials, Cornerstone Chemicals, INEOS Nitriles and Unigel.
