Total restarts styrene plant in Louisiana after Hurricane Isaac

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Total Petrochemicals confirmed on Friday that it has restarted its Carville facility in Louisiana following Hurricane Isaac last week.

The Carville facility has a combined styrene capacity of 1.16m tonnes/year and a polystyrene (PS) capacity of 658,000 tonnes/year.

Trade sources also said during the week that Americas Styrenics’ St James facility in Louisiana restarted. The St James facility has a combined styrene capacity of 950,000 tonne/year.

Americas Styrenics shut the plant down last week ahead of Hurricane Isaac, but has not confirmed the restart.
