European styrene spot prices are at their highest level since July 2008 because of a lack of availability and a surprising level of demand, market sources said on Friday.

Europe September toluene contracts settle up in a wide range
The European September toluene contract has settled in a wide range, increasing by $133-172/tonne (€106-138/tonne) from last month, market sources said on Wednesday.
Europe September styrene barge confirmed at €1,410/tonne
The European styrene barge contract for September has fully settled at €1,410/tonne ($1,785/tonne), up €43/tonne from August, two producers and three buyers confirmed on Tuesday.
ECHA launches public consultation on 54 chemicals
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has launched a public consultation on 54 materials that could qualify as substances of very high concern (SVHCs), the agency said on Monday.
