HOUSTON (ICIS)--China’s Jiutai Energy has licensed Dow Chemical’s UNIPOL technology for a planned 350,000 tonne/year methanol-to-olefins based polypropylene (PP) plant, Dow said on Tuesday.

The plant in Zhungeer Qi, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia, is expected to start up in 2015.

Methanol-to-olefins PP production is gaining popularity in China because of the country's abundant coal reserves, Dow said.

Jiutai Energy is Dow’s 11th UNIPOL PP technology licensee in China since 2006, it added.
