HOUSTON (ICIS)--US 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) exports in July decreased by 38% from the same month a year earlier, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Tuesday.

US 2-EH exports fell to 2,398 tonnes in July from 3,842 tonnes in July 2011.

Exports fell in July mainly because of a drop in shipments to Canada.

July exports also decreased from 2,984 tonnes in June.

Canada at 1,259 tonnes was the major destination for 2-EH exports, followed by Chile at 999 tonnes, France at 80 tonnes and Colombia at 25 tonnes.

Other destinations included Mexico and Venezuela.

The US imported 4,382 tonnes of 2-EH in July, up from 1,062 in July of 2011, and also up from 2,707 tonnes in June this year.
