HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butyl acetate (butac) exports in July rose 38% year on year, largely on increased shipments to Egypt, according to data released on Tuesday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
July butac exports totalled 8,451 tonnes, compared with 6,110 tonnes in July 2011, according to the data.
Shipments to Egypt totalled 1,998 tonnes, compared with none in the same month last year.
Butac shipments to Mexico, which is the largest export destination so far this year, totalled 1,540 tonnes in July, up by 37% from 1,125 tonnes in July 2011, according to the data.
Major US butac producers include Dow Chemical, Eastman Chemical and Oxea Group.
