US July PET imports drop by 29% year on year

MIAMI, Florida (ICIS)--US polyethylene terephthalate (PET) July imports decreased by 29% year on year, according to US International Trade Commission (ITC) statistics made available on Tuesday.

US PET imports for July were 36,854, down by 15,015 from 51,869 tonnes in July 2011.

Month on month, PET imports fell by 17% to 36,854 tonnes from 44,434 tonnes in June, the ITC said.

US PET exports for July were 27,660 tonnes, up by 4,149 tonnes or 18% from 23,511 tonnes in July 2011.

US PET producers include DAK Americas, Indorama, Mossi & Ghisolfi Group, and NanYa.
