SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) has restarted its 800,000 tonne/year vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) plant in Mailiao on 12 September after its shutdown for maintenance on 16 August, a company source said on Wednesday.

FPC is gradually ramping up the operating rate of the VCM unit, which is currently running at low rate, according to the source.

The producer also operates a 1.33m dry metric tonne (dmt)/year caustic soda, 1.18m tonne/year ethylene dichloride (EDC) and 500,000 tonne/year polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plants in Mailiao.
