M&G said that the site will be home to a 1m tonne/year PET and a 1.2m tonne/year PTA plant. The company had announced the projects last year.

“The final selection and the purchase of the land is an important step as it will allow us to complete detailed engineering and permit filing”, said Mauro Fenoglio, M&G's project leader.

The plants are expected to create about 250 direct jobs and 700 additional indirect jobs.

M&G did not say when it expects the plants to begin production or how much money it will invest.
