SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) plans to restart its 350,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant at Mailiao on 20 September, after completing a 20-day turnaround, a company source said on Monday.

Its 264,000 tonne/year linear low density PE (LLDPE) plant at the same site is scheduled to be shut on 25 September for a three-week turnaround.

The shutdown of the LLDPE plant is the second phase of a planned five-week maintenance at the unit. The plant had a two-week turnaround early this month and resumed operations on 14 September, the source said.

FPC needed the 10-day interval in between the turnarounds of the LLDPE plant to churn out supply for its local customers, the source said.
