China’s Sichuan Chemical Industry to build ammonia, melamine units

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sichuan Chemical Industry Holding (Group) Co Ltd will start construction of a 600,000 tonne/year synthetic ammonia and a 200,000 tonne/year melamine unit in Xinjiang in 2013, a company source said on Monday.

The company signed a cooperation agreement with Xinjiang Baicheng government at Chengdu in Sichuan on 10 September, the source added.

Construction of the two units will start in 2013 and they are expected to start up in 2015, according to the source.

The company will invest yuan (CNY) 5.8bn ($918m) on the project, which includes construction of plants such as a 80,000 tonne/year iminodiacetonitrile unit and a 600,000 tonne/year compound ferterlizer unit.

Sichuan Chemical Industry Holding (Group) Co Ltd is a fertilizer and fine chemicals producer in China, and Sichuan Lutianhua Co is one of its subsidiary.
