Iran’s Kharg Petrochemical runs methanol plant at full capacity

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Iran-based Kharg Petrochemical is currently running its 660,000 tonne/year natural gas-based methanol plant at full capacity and has no maintenance plans for the unit for the rest of the year, a company source said on Monday.

The company sells its methanol output to Asia, mainly to China.

Methanol prices were assessed at $356-364/tonne (€271-277/tonne) CFR (cost and freight) China on 14 September, up by $6-9/tonne from the previous week, according to ICIS.

Other methanol producers in the Middle East include SABIC and National Petrochemical Company.
