Russia's monomer, polymer output Jan-Aug 2012 mostly down

MOSCOW (ICIS)--Russia's overall production of monomers and polymers was mostly down in the first eight months of the year, the country's statistical agency Rosstat said on Wednesday.

In January-August, Russia's total production of ethylene was down by 10.1% year on year at 1.49m tonnes, while propylene production was 13.4% down year on year at 752,400 tonnes, it said.

Meanwhile, styrene output was 5.8% up year on year at 296,000 tonnes, the agency said.

The country's total output of polyethylene was down by 11.9% year on year at 1m tonnes, and polypropylene production was 6.5% down at 450,000 tonnes, it said.

However, polystyrene output was 4.8% up year on year at 333,000 tonnes, the agency said.
