US propylene stocks fall 1.4% despite higher refinery rates

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US propylene inventories were down in the second week of September despite higher operating rates at US refineries, government data showed on Wednesday.

Propylene inventories were at 4.761m bbl in the week that ended on 14 September, down by 1.4% from 4.827m bbl in the previous week, according to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

US refineries operated at 88.9% of capacity last week, up from 84.7% a week earlier, EIA figures showed.

Refinery-grade propylene (RGP) for September traded on Wednesday at 41.50 cents/lb ($915/tonne, €705/tonne), up from 39.00 cents/lb a week earlier.
