SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Daesan MMA will shut its 90,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant in Yeosu on 21 November for a turnaround, a company source said on Thursday.

The scheduled turnaround is for catalyst changing and will last for 20 days, the source said.

Production will resume on 11 December, the source added.

The turnaround will follow an ongoing shutdown that started on 19 September, which is two days later than the original schedule because of mechanical problems, the source said.

The ongoing shutdown will last for five days and Daesan MMA is now expected to restart production on 23 September, according to the source.

Daesan MMA is a joint venture between Japan’s Mitsubishi Rayon Co (MRC) and South Korea’s Honam Petrochemical.
