HOUSTON (ICIS)--Foster Wheeler has won another contract for work on Venezuela's planned Batalla Santa Ines Refinery, the international petrochemicals engineering firm said on Thursday.

Foster Wheeler said that the contract, from Venezuela’s state oil and petrochemicals major Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) is for the first phase of the project. It includes early detailed engineering design and an estimate for the refinery’s crude distillation unit, storage and blending unit and fuel distribution plant.

Foster is undertaking the work in a consortium with South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering and Construction.

In 2011, Foster Wheeler already won a contract for the refinery’s process design and front-end engineering design services, it said.

Financial terms, capacities or timeline for completion and construction were not disclosed.

“Together with the award of the engineering, procurement and construction management services contract for PDVSA’s El Palito Refinery expansion project, announced on 19 July 2012, this award reflects PDVSA’s continued confidence in the strength of our refining technical expertise and the quality of our project execution,” said Foster’s chief operating officer Umberto della Sala.
