HOUSTON (ICIS)--A fire at El Palito refinery in Venezuela is now under control, media reports said on Thursday.
The fire has been limited to a single tank, according to a report by El Universal.
The newspaper quoted Asdrubal Chavez, vice president of refining, commerce and supply for Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA), the state-owned energy producer.
The rest of the refinery units are operating normally, and the complex is processing 135,000 bbl/day, El Universal reported.
The fire started on Wednesday during heavy rain storms, Chavez said. Lightning then struck two containers, which stored gasoline blendstock, according to reports by El Unviersal and Analitica.
PDVSA's Amuay refinery experienced a deadly explosion on 25 August.
