MEDELLIN, Colombia (ICIS)--Pemex has started maintenance at its Pajaritos ethylene plant in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, and the company expects no disruptions to supplies, the Mexican state energy producer said on Monday.
Pemex began maintenance on the 180,000 tonne/year ethylene plant on 22 September, the company said.
“Maintenance at the plant is being carried out gradually and therefore we do not expect production to be affected,” a spokesman for Pemex said.
Pemex expected the work on the plant’s compression and distribution control systems to be completed by the first week of November.
All other processing plants at the complex would continue to operate as normal, Pemex said.
Pemex also carried out on Thursday a simulated evacuation involving 450 workers at the Pajaritos plant, the company said.
Investigations into the accident were ongoing, Pemex said.
