HOUSTON (ICIS)--Westlake will perform maintenance and expand its Petro 2 ethylene units at Lake Charles, Louisiana, in the first quarter, the company said on Monday.

Earlier this year, Westlake said it would proceed with the 50-day cracker turnaround in the fourth quarter.

The expansion will increased ethane-based ethylene capacity by 230m-240m lb/year (104,000-109,000 tonnes/year), Westlake said.

Westlake moved the turnaround so it could optimise work at the site and minimise downtime, according to a statement by Dave Hansen, Westlake spokesman.
