ATLANTA, Georgia (ICIS)--The application of visco-elastic polyurethane (PU) foams has not only enjoyed tremendous growth in the bedding market, but has also seen positive recognition and acceptance from consumers, Huntsman said on Monday.
Consumers are becoming better informed and will like to understand the materials inside the mattresses that they buy, Huntsman said at the 2012 Polyurethanes Technical Conference in ?xml:namespace>
The voluntary CertiPUR-US® program was developed to address consumer concerns, such as durability, content and indoor emissions, the company added.
Huntsman has developed a unique methyl di-p-phenylene isocyanate (MDI)-based flexible PU foam technology, which offers advantages that include simple and robust processing, fast curing, easily tunable densities and reduced catalyst requirements, Huntsman said. The conference runs through Wednesday.
