SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Nanjing Bluestar New Chemical Materials will delay the restart of its 55,000 tonne/year butanediol (BDO) unit at Nanjing in Jiangsu province to 10 October from end-September, a company sources said.

The restart date was delayed because of expected high cost pressure during end-September. Hence, the restart date was postponed to 10 October, according to the company sources.

The company shut the BDO unit on 5 September for regular maintenance, the source added.

The restart of the BDO plant is likely to support to the upstream maleic anhydride (MA) market given an increase in demand for MA from BDO producers, industry sources said.
