SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jilin Petrochemical started up its 320,000 tonne/year styrene monomer (SM) unit in Jilin province in northeast China on 26 September, a company source said on Wednesday.
The start-up of the unit will bring Jilin Petrochemical’s total SM capacity to 460,000 tonnes/year. The company has an existing 140,000 tonne/year SM unit at the same site.
The producer started up its downstream 200,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) unit at the site on the same day, the source added.
Together with the producer’s existing 180,000 tonne/year ABS plant, its total capacity will be raised to 380,000 tonnes/year.
