HOUSTON (ICIS)--Chemtura has agreed to acquire the bromine assets of India’s Solaris ChemTech for an undisclosed sum, the US-based specialty chemicals firm said on Wednesday.

The deal includes manufacturing facilities and a research centre in India’s western Gujarat state.

“The acquisition of Solaris ChemTech’s bromine assets will further strengthen our bromine position and provide our customers with increased security of supply, through further diversification of our bromine supply sources,” CEO Craig Rogerson said.

“Establishing [an] additional footprint in the Asia-Pacific region is further evidence of our commitment to growth in faster growing regions, and will also strengthen Chemtura’s prospects for expansion across the portfolio of Chemtura businesses,” Rogerson added.

Chemtura expects to complete the deal by the end of the year.
